I think my intrests in photography have been hidden inside since high school, when photographs for journalism class and yearbook were posted in the halls. At the time I thought that was what I wanted to do, but years later I got a Pentax K1000 film camera and a couple of lenses and started playing around. I read lots of photography magazines and books, and took a black and white photography class in college to learn more on compisition and darkroom techniques. I've now gotten rid of the darkroom and film camera, and love my Pentax Kx with the filters and techniques built right in. I'm still learning how to use it, but I'm a firm believer you're never too old to learn.
