I first came to the Rockies when I was eight. One of my earliest memories of the Rockies is watching a black bear swim the fast moving Athabasca River. I recall its strength and grace as it crossed the turbulent water. Since my teens I have been photographing nature, especially the landscapes, flora and wildlife of the Canadian Rockies and Canada's West Coast. The equipment has grown more sophisticated from a childhood Kodak Instamatic to my first SLR ( a Pentax Spotmatic) to the current digital equipment, but the joy of photography and the wonder at nature's beauty and complexity remain much as it was for that child.
