Somewhere along the path of studying architecture and city planning in university I became intensely interested in photography. I eventually came to a point where I realized I'd never forgive myself if I didn't try to make a living at it, so naturally I started doing architectural photography as my "bread and butter". That was in 1977. Since then, I've also done a little bit of everything from weddings to wildlife, and especially nature and cityscapes for sale through three major stock photo agencies I've joined. In 1980 I began teaching photography to adults part-time and, with a few gaps, have continued to teach. It's a good way to stay sharp and keep up with technology. You can't teach it unless you know it. Since 2000 I've worked a lot with BW infrared film (and a bit with infrared digital, too), shooting landscapes with emphasis on trees. I've exhibited some of this work, gotten good responses, and plan to keep doing it indefinitely. I'm especially intrigued with photography's ability to capture things we can't see with our eyes: things in motion create lines and blurs, colors register differently, and the tones of infrared are a surreal revelation.
