I made an independent decision for Pentax camera systems three times in my life. My first serious camera was an SP 500, purchased in 1973 and complemented with a set of mediocre Vivitar lenses which was all I could afford then. When this outfit was stolen in 1979, I considered a Nikon FM but ended up with a Pentax MX with 28mm, 50mm, 100mm and 200mm M lenses (and never regretted the decision). I later added Super A, LX and PZ-1P bodies and more lenses. In 1989, I needed a medium format system for my part-time professional architectural photography. Among those that I could afford (Mamiya 645 and Pentax 645), the Pentax clearly offered superior lenses. I made the switch to digital rather late in 2007 with a K10D. This was not an independent decision as I owned several fine K-mount lenses that I wanted to continue using. However, had I started from scratch at that time I probably also would have chosen the Pentax system due to the fine dedicated prime lenses it offered (somehow, I can't seem to get along with zoom lenses). Unfortunately, the Pentax system has not much expanded in this respect since. What's therefore missing in my bag: DA 18mm F2.0, DA 24mm F1.8, DA 135mm F2.0. Will we see any of these in the future?
